Financial Controller – Townsville

Calvary Christian Church is currently inviting applications for the full-time position of Financial Controller working in the Townsville Business Office.

About the Role:

The position of Financial Controller manages all aspects of the finance function of the company and associated companies to proactively lead, plan, monitor, educate and report on financial performance and meet compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not be limited to:

  • Leadership of the Calvary Finance Team including mentoring of accounts team members.
  • Attend to all compliance matters for the group, including Income Tax, FBT, GST, Workers Comp and Payroll Tax
  • Management of business risk and cash flow management
  • Budgeting & forecasting, financial planning and analysis
  • Management of payroll function to ensure compliance and award adherence.
  • Oversight of the accounts receivable function of the group including reviewing project contracts, progress claims, retentions and bank guarantees
  • Oversight of the accounts payable function and policy adherence.
  • Preparation of accurate on time monthly management reports, financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations, working towards 7-14 day month end turnaround.

Selection Criteria:

  • Significant team leadership and relationship building skills
  • Graduate Qualifications in Accounting or Business with CPA / CA Certification and minimum 3 year’s experience.
  • Familiarity with government legislation including payroll, BAS, GST
  • Experience working with not-for-profit organisation preferable
  • Experience with Xero or similar finance system desirable
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with advanced formulas
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Self-motivated and positive attitude
  • Personal responsibility for work and meeting objectives
  • A commitment to the staff code of conduct policy and an active Christian faith.

    OSHC Director – Townsville

    Calvary Christian Church is currently inviting applications for the full-time position of OSHC Director at the Townsville After Before Vacation Care Center.

    Calvary ABV Care is an integral part of the school and church community at Calvary and is well supported through the Calvary Church Business Office. The Centre Director will be a nominated Supervisor and is expected to be responsible for the management of operations to ensure compliance and the delivery of quality education and care for children attending.

    Currently, the service is approved to care for a maximum of 75 children per session, with opportunity for further growth.  Management tasks expected of this role includes coordinating day-to-day management of operations, quality improvement planning, family and community engagement, business administration and finances, human resource management, risk management, and reporting to the Calvary Business Office on KPIs and strategic directions/initiatives.

    Selection Criteria:

    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position, with a preference for experience within a OSHC business environment.
    • Strong understanding of the legislation and frameworks relating to education and care services and Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
    • Proven ability to build and maintain supportive and trusting relationships with children and families.
    • A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively facilitate teamwork, conflict resolution, support the development of others, and lead performance through setting clear direction and expectations.
    • Ability to oversee program planning including design, delivery, and evaluation.
    • Ability to work autonomously and be across all facets of business operations.
    • A minimum Diploma of Children’s Services or relevant higher qualification.
    • Working with Children Check – Blue Card
    • First aid including CPR, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis training
    • Self-motivated and positive attitude.
