It’s the surprises that make Christmas the most wonderful time of the year.

When you buy the perfect gift, that they’d have never guessed. When a much-loved friend or family member knocks on the door, unannounced. When you receive that Christmas bonus you just weren’t expecting (one can hope!). The joy that accompanies surprise is a special kind of joy.

The Christmas account is the ultimate surprise – a surprise of the best possible kind.

We assumed God would stay afar off – but He came near! We assumed a natural conception – but He was born of a virgin (a surprise to Joseph, no doubt!) We assumed God would arrive in power – He came as a newborn! We assumed a King born in comfort – He was laid in a manger!

It’s news so good, none of us would have guessed it. The longer we think about it, the more the Christmas account ought leave us surprised – surprised by joy!

SURPRISED BY JOY

Calvary Christian Church is proud to present our 2024 Carols Spectacular Surprised by Joy! One of the ways we celebrate Christmas at Calvary is our annual Carols Spectacular. This year's production, Surprised by Joy, is a family friendly Christmas show featuring festive fun, carols, and a visit from Santa.

CALVARY CARE CHRISTMAS JOY PROJECT

It is always a joy to help brighten Christmas for children and those in need of a helping hand during this time. The Calvary Care Christmas Joy Project partners each year with Prisons Fellowship’s Angel Tree program to provide Christmas gifts to children whose parent is in prison. In each of our Australian campuses, we work closely with support organisations to provide presents and food to people in need, as well as responding to any requests highlighted by our pastoral care teams. Each year, the need during this time grows so we are grateful for all our Calvary Care donors. For those who would like to assist by purchasing a gift, please see the Calvary Care stand in foyer during the month of November.

CHRISTMAS EVE & DAY SERVICES

Together we celebrate the birth of Christ at our special Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. With carols, communion and some extra Christmas surprises, we look forward to seeing you on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day at Calvary. Kids Christmas packs are provided for children and a Mothers’ and Parents’ Room will be available for parents of infants and toddlers.

CALVARY KIDS

It’s the most wonderful time of year at Calvary Kids! Throughout the month of December, pre-primary and primary aged children will love attending Calvary Kids each Sunday with our special Christmas curriculum, Christmas activities and crafts, and lots of fun amusements at our Christmas Carols events.
