Do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of the
Caleb was a Hebrew so he said of Israel’s enemies, “We will devour them”.
Had he been an Australian, he would have declared (in a broad North Queensland accent of course) “We’ll have ‘em for breakfast!”
Whilst all of Israel feared the battle they faced would be the end of them, Caleb was convinced it would be bread for them. Far from destroying Israel, this battle would actually make them stronger.
This is the way to approach every situation in your life. If God is with you then life’s battles will develop you, not destroy you; make you, not maim you.
God doesn’t cause every circumstance in your life but He will USE every circumstance to develop His image in your life.
He causes all things to work together for good so that we are transformed into the likeness of Christ (Romans 8v28-29).
All of this means that, if we continue to trust in God, nothing is wasted; not even the difficulties of life. Every experience is the bread of strength for those who trust in God.
